Lake Redstone is a recent (1964) manmade reservoir covering approximately 650 acres, with over 17 miles of shoreline and is 3 1/2 miles in length. The mean water depth is 14 feet with the deepest location reaching 35 feet in depth.
Lake Redstone is located in northern Sauk County, Wisconsin with Lavalle WI being only 3 miles to the west and the Wisconsin Dells only 30 minutes to the east.
Lake Redstone offers excellent fishing opportunities for Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Muskellunge (Muskie), Northern Pike, and Walleye year around and also provides full recreational boating opportunities as well. If you like to hike, bike ride or perhaps horse ride, you may enjoy the 400 trail which is a 22-mile-long gravel trail from Reedsburg to Elroy. It connects to the Elroy-Sparta Trail and the Hillsboro Trail. Bikers, horseback riders, and snowmobilers can all take advantage of this wonderful trail.
One of the most under-rated paddling prospects in southern Wisconsin is Lake Redstone. What makes this lake unique and worth paddling are its ‘red stones / bluffs’. There are rock formations sprinkled throughout the lake with a concentration in the northwest section and a main concentration on the southern section.
